An ending that is also a beginning - My photo book "Every New Day" is completely sold out
"The end of something is often the beginning of something new" – that’s what I wrote in my book “On Every New Day”. And now, with the complete sell-out of my photobook, I can feel exactly that: a project has come to an end, and at the same time, space is opening up for something new.
By “end”, I don’t mean that something has vanished. Quite the opposite. It feels good – like a full stop I’ve consciously placed at the end of a chapter that’s very close to my heart. The book project is complete – in terms of content, design, and thought – and now also physically: all copies have been sold to buyers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Begium, The Netherlands, France, United Kinddom, USA and Canada. The response was overwhelming, and the many messages I received touched, encouraged and inspired me. (Some of those responses are listed below at the end of the article). Among others, Swan Magazine and Simon Bolz engaged with the book in depth in their public reviews.
There will probably be no reprint and no eBook either. I’m a firm believer in the printed image – something that is not arbitrary, not unlimited, and not digitally available. A printed photobook is a work in its own right: a composition of theme, image selection, sequence, paper, format, and tactile quality. It is created with head, heart and hand – and that’s how I hope it will be experienced.
A good photobook doesn’t just tell my story – ideally, it allows your own story to unfold in your mind. It invites you to take your time, to linger, to browse and to discover. It stands in contrast to the fast pace of digital media, where images often receive just a fleeting moment of attention. A photobook offers space, dignity, and weight.
A photobook is a carefully curated selection from thousands of possible images. It is focused in its message and generous in format – a format I, as the photographer, can determine. And yes – I do believe many images deserve more than the size of a smartphone screen.
With the completion of this project, my photographic mind is now free for new ideas. That too is part of finishing a photobook: as a photographer, you let go of control over interpretation at the moment of publication.

A book project comes to an end. But as I said – it’s also the beginning of something new.
