Every year, I try to spend a few days in Arles, where the international photo festival Rencontres d'Arles takes place. This year (2023) I was in Arles in the second week of July to see exhibitions and meet other photo enthusiasts. It is an international photography festival held annually in Arles, France. It serves as a vibrant platform for photographers and photography enthusiasts to showcase and explore contemporary and historic photographic works. The festival features a diverse range of exhibitions, workshops, and events, celebrating the art of photography while fostering dialogue and collaboration within the global photographic community.
There were also some pictures of mine on display in a group exhibition intiated by ProfiFoto. By chance, I also had the opportunity to see the studio of the late founder of the festival, Lucien Clergue, which I wrote about here. Besides the pictures shown below, I had already shown some impressions of the festival a few years ago here.
The series of pictures shown below is from July 2023 and was taken on film. Somehow I felt like the analogue pictorial approach. Just with a point & shoot camera from the last Century and a 36 images film.
