Heidi
is a 24 y/o model, and playmate based in Copenhagen, Denmark but traveling worldwide. We talked about her reason to become a model, how she prepares for a shooting, sex with photographers and her advice to new models.
Thomas Berlin: Heidi, could you tell a bit about yourself?
Heidi Rom: I am a Russian speaking girl who was born in Latvia and living in Denmark. I do modelling almost 7 years and I started just in two weeks after I turn 18 years.
Thomas Berlin: How would you describe yourself in one or two words?
Heidi Rom: Lazy potato.
Thomas Berlin: Are you a part time or full time model?
Heidi Rom: Yes, modelling was my full time job since 2013 and till end of 2019. Now I also do graphic design, presets for Lightroom for other people, I create content for my Patreon page and do photo retouch for request.
Thomas Berlin: Heidi, you are traveling worldwide. Which countries impressed you?. Which places do you favor and which not?
Heidi Rom: I love Italy a lot but not because of working there but because of atmosphere, food, landscapes, weather and etc. One day I’ll have a small house there :) I don’t think I have a place I didn’t liked at all but I was in London twice and both times weather was just terrible so probably London is my mostly unliked place
Thomas Berlin: Where have you never been but have a clear opinion?
Heidi Rom: India. I heard so many terrible things about it so I don’t wanna go there but who knows. Life is kinda surprising.
Thomas Berlin: Is being a model your first job or did you have an other jobs before (or a study or apprenticeship)?
Heidi Rom: Before I started as a full time model I worked in a cosmetic shop as consultant for 2 months. At the same time I was studying at a college for visual advertising.
Thomas Berlin: Did you do something creative before starting modeling?
Heidi Rom: Absolutely not. I didn’t had time for it. After my 18th year I started to work as consultant and then I became a nude model and this is the most creative thing ever happen to me.
Thomas Berlin: What type of creating / style of modelling do you do? Which one do you enjoy the most?
Heidi Rom: I really enjoy nudeart style of photos. But I also do more explicit content which is nice but not all photographers can make it in a beautiful way.
Thomas Berlin: What inspired you to become a model?
Heidi Rom: Money. I didn’t dreamed about it and I even didn’t knew that there is something like this. I had to work hard to buy a good laptop for my studies and I understood that as consultant I can’t make it.
Thomas Berlin: Please tell me about your first steps as a model or actress.
Heidi Rom: Well, my first company I worked for was an erotic company. I worked for them twice and after I started to do nudeart style photos.
Thomas Berlin: You are very self confident. Was that always the case?
Heidi Rom: Nope, when I just started I wasn’t self confident at all. I did a huge work on myself to become confident and my work is helping me a lot.
Thomas Berlin: What differentiates a good from a not so good photographer from a models perspective?
Heidi Rom: If we are talking just about professional side then the quality and level of photos is the difference. If we are talking about human side so then it’s always nice when photographer make perfect conditions for shoot: music, heating, tea.
Thomas Berlin: How do you handle different photographers and their mentalities? Is that a challenge or do you enjoy it?
Heidi Rom: I don’t see a big difference. I came for shoot so we work. I don’t care what kind of mentality photographer has because I see him/her only for a limited time.
Thomas Berlin: How important is social media for your success / or inspiration? Which media do you use?
Heidi Rom: Oh I love social media. Instagram is kinda my hobby (@Heidi.rom and @uunicorndream) even I had blocked twice. I use almost all social media but Instagram and Pinterest are my favorites.
Thomas Berlin: Social media is sometimes very prude. How accepted is nude art in Russia in general and especially regarding your family & friends?
Heidi Rom: All my friends and family are okay with what I’m doing and they always support me if I need it. In post Soviet Union territory people still are a bit conservative but I hope that it will change in the future.
Thomas Berlin: Do you understand / accept prudery, eg in social mecia, relegion and society?
Heidi Rom: I just do what I like and I don’t think about religion, social opinion and whatever. If everyone does what they want and doesn't listen to what other people are saying, we'll probably have happier people.
Thomas Berlin: What was your funniest experience in a shoot?
Heidi Rom: Oh, I don’t remember. I had so many shootings.
Thomas Berlin: Did you already have sex with a photographer during or after a shooting?
Heidi Rom: Yes, when the photographer was my boyfriend.
Thomas Berlin: Do you prefer black & white or color images?
Heidi Rom: I prefer all kind of beautiful images.
Thomas Berlin: Digital or analog?
Heidi Rom: I don’t care.
Thomas Berlin: What about Polaroid/ Instax?
Heidi Rom: I have an Instax camera and I I love it! Actually I’m a fan of polaroids because they are so special!
Thomas Berlin: How do you prepare for a shooting?
Heidi Rom: I eat. Not all photographers have snacks in their studio and sometimes they don’t think that the model could be hungry. So I eat and prepare my own snacks for shoot in case there will be no food.
Thomas Berlin: Is there a difference if the photographer is a male or female, eg in style, behavior, kindness, willingness to pay or so?
Heidi Rom: I didn’t worked with many female photographers but I can say that females has a different vision of female body. Photos taken by female photographer are more sensual.
Thomas Berlin: What advice you can you give to new models? Or a reason to model or maybe not to model?
Heidi Rom: If you don’t have a strong mental health don’t even start lol. There are still many people who don’t accept this kind of job and you have to deal with it. There is no reason not to do it if you want.
Thomas Berlin: Do you take also photographs?
Heidi Rom: Mostly I do lifestyle photos of my travels. I can also do self-portraits of myself.
Thomas Berlin: Will you model the whole life or do you have other plans for the future?
Heidi Rom: Isn’t it boring to do something for your whole life? There ate so many other cool things I want to try so I don’t think I’ll be model for my whole life.
Thomas Berlin: Favorite food?
Heidi Rom: Junk food. I love sushi, burgers, Mcdonalds, italian food, Russian and Ukrainian kitchen.
Thomas Berlin: Beer or wine?
Heidi Rom: Wine
Thomas Berlin: What else are you doing outside of modelling / outside your job?
Heidi Rom: Sleeping, drawing, making posts for social media, cooking, shopping, spending time with family & friends.
